How to get into the Christmas Spirit

Happy Monday babes!

As I am writing this post I am listening to Christmas music sitting by our Christmas tree… So I guess it is appropriate that I write how to get in that wonderful Christmas spirit!

I know some are just starting finals week or working throughout the season. Sometimes it can be really hard to get into the holiday spirit when you are stressed and have so much going on.

That has been me the past couple of Christmas’, but this year I was determined to change that! I LOVE Christmas and it only comes around once a year. I wanted to stay in the mood and enjoy this time of year I have off from school.

So here is my list of ways to get into the Christmas Spirit!

  1. Listen to Christmas music! I know that sounds so simple but it really does work! Find a station on pandora or spotify and find the station in your town that plays it 24/7 and just leave it there.
  2. Watch a Christmas Movie! “Well duh” you are thinking…. but how can you watch one and not get in the mood!? uh huh. That is what I thought. My first Christmas movie of the season was at my grandmother’s, and it was a Hallmark original. I love Hallmark movies, I know it always turns out the same, they fall in love and live happily ever after. If you aren’t into that then watch Elf or another classic movie.
  3. Make a holiday drink! Whatever that is for you, hot chocolate, eggnog or my personal favorite Russian Tea (a recipe is coming soon)! It just always put me in a happy mood and it tastes SOOO good!
  4. Have a movie night! Get all of your besties over and watch a christmas movie in pj with popcorn, candy, cookies. Just have fun and make a night out of it!
  5. Make cookies! This can be with a friend or even by yourself. Give them to friends and neighbors… or just keep them for yourself, either works!
  6. Host a Christmas party! You can have so much fun with this, it can be tacky or dressy or whatever you want it to be. My and my mom (mostly mom) host a cookie swap every year. Don’t worry, I’ll try to do a recap post!
  7. Start a secret Santa group! Everyone loves secret Santa, I feel like this has been so popular this year! People are even doing through mail with people they have never met!
  8. Make your Christmas list! Make a list to give to your boyfriend (because if you have one like mine you are probably better off giving him a list before you get a Nike sweatshirt for the third year in a row.) My big one is to my parents. It is always to have some ideas handy to give to family who asks!
  9. Go Christmas gift shopping! I must admit I enjoy getting gifts… But I really love the feeling of finding the perfect gift for someone on my list! I love shopping to begin with… but I love Christmas gift shopping even more!
  10. Buy more decorations! Can one really have too many Christmas decorations? No, the answer is no!
  11. Put up your decorations! well duh! How can you feel Christmassy if your house looks like Scrooge’s? Again, you can’t. So put up those decorations! Trust me, you’ll be glad you did!
  12. Buy a real tree! This is one of my favorite traditions. I love the smell of a real tree in my house. It can get slightly annoying taking it down. But this is a thing that a really makes Christmas for me… even though I happen to be allergic to trees. It is fine, I deal with it.
  13. Look at Christmas lights! This could be a really fun date night, dinner and looking at lights! I love those neighborhoods where every single house is decorated.
  14. Make a gingerbread house! This is another fun date night idea! See how creative you can get and make it a competition!
  15. Read the Christmas Story! Don’t forget the reason for the season! Luke 2:1-20
  16. Give! Whatever that means to you; donate a toy, volunteer at a food bank, serving food, or whatever you feel called to do.

Those were the main Christmas spirit enhancing activities I could think of!I hope they help put you in the Christmas mood!

Do you have any thing you love to do to get into the Christmas spirit??

Merry Christmas Loves,

I L-O-V-E Christmas! I mean, if I could, my entire house would be covered in lights and decorations. My little one and I have been baking cookies and watching christmas movies for about 2 weeks now. 😉
We have a tradition of watching “Miracle on 34th Street,” the original 1940s version. My dad and I used to watch it during this time and I’m trying to keep this simple tradition alive with my little one. So far it has worked out quite well!
