So Tuesday I had my first big girl interview for an internship in marketing and Public Relations, which is in my major now. Let me just say that I was so nervous. I’ve only been in one interview before, and that is the serving  job that I’ve had since senior year of highschool. And I absolutely love working there and they have honestly given me the best job experience I could have asked for. But I really want and need to get some experience in my field of public relations. But the interview was not bad at all! It was super laid back and lasted less than half an hour.

So the night before my mom and I were trying to pick out an outfit and we honest to goodness could find NOTHING! NOTHING at all! Luckily we only live five minutes from the mall so we made a quick (aka 2 hour) shopping trip after dinner to try and find tops, I had black pants and the white skirt in the pictures, but not tops that worked for an interview.

For an interview, especially one that I was really interested in I wanted an outfit that I felt really confident in and if my blog was brought up she wouldn’t look at me and think “really?!”. So I always rather overdress than underdress.

So on to the outfit now, I fell in LOVE with this top at Dillards. the ruffles are so adorable and classy which is what I was really going for. My mom and I completely forgot to take a picture of the back of this top! But it has really cute openish back with buttons. But I promise there is going to be another post with this top because it is too cute! But I love this skirt and how it is patterned, and the conservative length is perfect for an interview. The purse just adds the perfect amount of pop of color to this look.

My advice for someone going into an interview is to be yourself. That is the most important part is to be true to yourself  and that will make you stand out more to the interviewer and will really help them decide if you will fit well with the company. Also you should do your research and find out as much as you can on the company’s website to be as informed as you possibly can, even if they don’t ask you any questions about the company. Looking up common interview questions on line is always helpful and having points thought up for each question.  Luckily this interview was not as hard as it could have been and she didn’t make it intimidating and uncomfortable like some can be.

Sorry, I know this post is longer than my usual but I want to share with ya’ll that I got a voicemail late last night when I got off work that the company offered me the internship and is sending me the official employee proposal this morning! I am so so so excited for this opportunity. I like to think that my super cute outfit played a role in me getting hired! 😉

I hope ya’ll have a great Thursday!
